FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT J.M. MANION NPC PHOTO ORDERS
Why does my credit card statement show a charge from Fitness Divas Productions & not J.M. Productions as it has in the past?
Please note that your credit card statement will show the charges for photos as coming from "Fitness Divas Productions". Know that the funds will eventually be collected by J.M. Productions to fill your photo order. Also, please note that when you enter your information into the website, your credit card does not automatically get charged.
Where are my photos?
Let me explain that I, J.M. Manion, do not personally handle, fill or even ship out any of the mail orders. My wife handles all that by herself. She is a 1 woman operation on that end just as I'm a 1 man operation when it comes to taking the photos. Therefore I truthfully do not have any idea if your order is processed or not. My wife has her own system set up & I don't mess with it. We're running 2 different operations here. And the women that answer the phone's for us at our photo studio do not handle any bodybuilding, fitness and/or figure photo orders. They can take a message & pass it along to us. They are responsible for handling photo orders from our photo studio only. So for those of you that have called & yelled & cursed at them, (unfortunate, but true), please use a little courtesy next time & realize that they are telling the truth when they say they will have to check on your order because they do not know anything about it.
What if I don’t feel comfortable ordering my photos using a credit card over the Internet?
You will still have the option of printing out an order form that you can fill out & send in just like we have been doing the past 15 years.
Isn’t that your job to just take photos?
For those of you that are unfamiliar with me, taking photos is not the only job I perform. I am also a writer/photographer for FLEX Magazine & the chief writer/photographer/assistant art director/copy editor for NPC News & supply approximately 90% of what goes into that magazine. Unlike other photographers that just do photos, I have these other duties to attend to simultaneously.
If you’re shooting digital photos, don’t you just download them to your computer & you’re ready to go? That’s what I do with my camera.
For those of you that think that when you take a digital photo all you have to do is download it to your computer & it's ready to go - you don't. I am using a high-end, professional Nikon camera. All images are taken in a high resolution JPEG (.jpg) file. I then have sort out the non-usable images, rename all of the usable images, do some color corrections & run them through Photoshop. Considering that at most regional contests I shoot 1000+ images & at national competitions I shoot 2,500+ images, that is a lot of work for 1 person. Yes, I personally do all of it myself. As soon as I can make the images available online to view & purchase, it will be announced on the website.
Your form states that we can have photos withing 12-14 weeks of the contest date.
As it clearly states on the website & at the top of every order form, the time to get your photos is 12-14 weeks from the time your credit card is charged or 12-14 weeks from the time we receive your order with a money order. It is not 12-14 weeks from the time of the contest. Never has been. I don't know how I can make that any clearer? (Any suggestions are separately.)
I paid for a Rush Order, why don’t I have my photos yet?
Unfortunately, just as it states on the order form, this is 6-7 weeks from the time we process your credit card. Not 6-7 weeks from the contest. Since 95% of Rush Orders are via credit card, if you still want the Rush Order you will know when it's coming by looking at the date on your credit card statement.
How do I go about scheduling a photo shoot with you at your studio or during a competition weekend?
The best way to handle this is to call my photo studio & speak to my Office Manager. She has my schedule in front of her. It is best to call & schedule at least 2 to 3 months in advance. For national contests I book up fairly fast. I have had many people call me a week or day before a contest or talk to me at the competitors meeting & by that time I have already been booked. The number to contact is (412) 257-4555.
What is the cost of a photo shoot with you?
That depends on what you are looking for? You need to speak to my Office Manager & let her know what type of shoot you are looking for & she can then calculate the cost for you. Please note that if you want to use a make-up artist for a photo shoot at the studio, that fee will be paid separately to the make-up artist.
